Outdoor patio area speakers

#1 Post by y2kindyz »

Hello guys, looking for advise for speakers for my outdoor patio area. I have a 14 x 18 free standing patio that is 12’ high. I am planning on using this as a source for sound. https://www.polyplanar.com/product/mrd7 ... ance-item/

My question is to build 4 SLA’s or use one of these. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005C ... OV9V&psc=1 Or https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005C ... OV9V&psc=1

How hard is it to weatherproof SLA’s? How low will the SLA’s go since I don’t plan on using a sub?

Thanks in advance,

Oscar

SLA's are only good down to about 100Hz, they need subs.

While the others from Amazon might do ok, I don't think they are going to do 35Hz (as the specs say) with authority.
If you're just looking for some background noise on the patio though, they should be fine with the unit you posted up...
Built:
DR 250: x 2 melded array, 2x CD horn, March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" KL3010LF , 2 x 28" 3012LF.
WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...

Thanks for the reply Grant. I was leaning to the 8” to hopefully get as low possible. I will start out with a pair and see how they sound this summer. Since I already have the amp. I purchased 2 on clearance for $69 for an RV Project a few years ago.
