Found another thread on them. 20" T39, 42lb fully loaded. Subtract 8 for the driver, 34lb empty weight. What a pleasant result.

Ok, let's chat about this.....

For years I've thought about trying to do a better job of sawdust control on my table saw....always getting sawdust all over everything.

I've have a cardboard tray resting on the leg support braces for 20 years...at least. Well, today I threw it away.

Grabbed a bunch of scraps from the woodpile and made a quick trip to HD for a vacuum hose fitting.

Did a little quick measuring and drawing and came up with a design to hang under the saw and catch the sawdust and hopefully get enough suction from the shop vac to keep more of it coming that way.

Built a box out of 1/4" scrap with a a rail on each side for connecting to the saw case. Was going to just build it square, but then decided a little help from gravity would be a good idea...why not make it just a little more complicated. Hell, I don't have anything better to do while we wait out this virus thing.

Got to use some 5/8" brads for the first time in .....uh.....years? Maybe forever? But, I had some - perfect for 1/4" ply.

Cut a hole on the low side of the box for the hose connection.

Let the glue dry overnight, then attached the outlet connector and gave it a quick sanding....

Forgot to take a pic before I put the saw back in it's home among the wood pile......

Had to take off the backside leg brace to fit it in. There were already some holes in the metal case of the saw, so just pre-drilled some screw holes and installed it with some wood screws.

Hopefully there will be a little less clean up now after turning big pieces of wood into smaller ones.

It's just a matter of touch.....once the duratex is spread, keep going over it both directions and at an angle, then finish with very, very light passes in a straight line overlapping...

If it's really bad you could sand it down a little. But I rarely do when I end up with any imperfections.

I'll usually get a line out of Duratex on the handle side of the roller if I'm pushing down too hard. Just keep it light on your final passes like Bruce mentioned.

Kevin and Bruce, thanks for the DuraTex tips! I went over it again today and got a much better result One thing I did notice is, if I worked it too long and it starts to dry, it'll streak. Thinking back, I think this may have been the problem. In any case, your advice is spot on and much appreciated.

I put a coat on side 6, the front, too and will put another on tomorrow. A little tricky getting everything to look good around all the bracing. Thinking I may concentrate on one plane (horizontal/vertical) one day then do the other the next and see if I can get a nice even texture in the mouth.

I also picked up a sheet of BB for the pair of 2x6 SlA Pro's and decided to grab a sheet of 1/4" too for the other stuff. Would guess the SLA's will get going Friday or Saturday. I'll start a build thread for those I guess.

The only thing I've used the table saw for was to build the box......couldn't figure out how to get it under there while I was cutting the panels for it......maybe some kind of time travel thing...

I'm sure something will come up that requires making pieces of wood smaller....then it will get the test.

Patience is a virtue. Or, so "they" say.

If it were me, I'd at least be pouring some dust in there to see the masterpiece in action... all the while lacking virtue, I guess.

If I tested it immediately and it didn't work, I'd be bummed. If it's a few weeks down the road and it sucks (or doesn't suck in this case), I'll be less agitated.

So... Baltic Birch. Differences I noticed, the saw seems to cut it with a little less effort, the saw dust is fluffy and less granular than douglas fir. Other than that, seems about the same, cutting wise. It's smoother in the hand and doesn't seem to splinter much, if at all. It's only slightly warped, nearly unnoticeable. Overall, I'm enjoying working with it so far.

I broke in a Basslite S2012 to try out in the T39 today. One of the cool features of the Ashly amplifiers that have DSP is that they have a signal generator built in. I just set it for 25Hz and slowly turned it up until it was between 10 and 12 volts then hooked it up to the speaker. I suppose it's not too much of a hassle to run a signal generator from a PC or smartphone. It is cool to have it built in though.

I've got a few more speakers in need of break-in.

Perhaps I'll hook them all up and get them broken-in tomorrow after I bolt the S2012 in the T39. Let 'em do their thing while working on the SLAP project and jamming out to the T39.
