Any of the decent studio monitors nowadays are powered and have built-in DSP. To duplicate that, you'd have to not only have a power amp, but a driverack. The money you'd save in building your own would be more that lost in the additional cost of an amp and driverack.....especially since there are a lot of pretty good, relatively cheap studio monitors in the market right now.

Presonus, KRK, JBL......lots of 'em out there. I'd try to find something with good low end response so that you don't need a sub.....if you are trying to keep it reasonable. Probably an 8 inch woofer.LMANNYR wrote:Any recommendations? I don't need Top Notch. Just descent. Seems like there are new ones coming out monthly and there are reviews on 'em in all the trade mags....haven't really seen a bad review on any of 'em.
