12 volt mobile DJ rig 3.0...
I've been through a number of 12 volt mobile rigs over the years for use in areas with no electrical outlets and this is the latest version I've settled on. I thought I would share for the benefit of those that might be building something similar.
[*]Soundstream Picasso Nano , 4 channel class D amp
[*]Denon MC2000 controller
[*]cheap Lanzar 5 band preamp
[*]Plywood and a couple NL4 connectors
[*]Audio Technica ATW 2000 series wireless mic (when wireless is needed...)
Testing it out on the driveway with a fresh set of SLA's and a pair of T18's.
So far so good. The run time off of a deep cycle battery is more than enough for an evening and the volume is plenty for an outdoor wedding ceremony or a rowdy night around the campfire with the gang. I did a western wedding out under a large oak tree in a cattle pasture with no power nearby and the client was impressed that there were no generators running to ruin the ceremony.
The laptop has a 12 volt charger and the Audio Technica wireless mic was chosen because it runs on 12 volts ("wall wart" transformer is 12 volt...)

Cool!
Welcome back, stranger!
Are those the JVC woofers in the SLAs?
What tweets?

yeah... it's been a while. I forgot my login password and had to have Bill reset it.
Speakers were cheapies from parts Express: If memory serves correct the mids are JVC, and I can't remember who made the tweets. I do remember that I bought a ton of them, I have enough left over to crank out at least 4 more SLA's...

I still have a case of those JVC's lying around.
If it's too loud, you're even older than me! Like me.

... and I have 2 (thats 48) . Probably a dozen or so loose as well. If you have a master plan for them then they are yours, if not I'll eventually get to them.
Built:
17" width 10" driver Autotuba
2 x 29" width dual Lab12 Tuba60
6 x DR250 2510/asd1001
In progress:
2 x DR250 2510/asd1001
For best results, point the loud end of the array towards the audience

Those look like T24's rather than T18's due to the tapered mouth of the horn.

Re: 12 volt mobile DJ rig 3.0...
Yup... I added the additional flare on purpose to allow me some dead air space for NL4 connectors on the front since I end up pointing them at the wall all the time.Chris_Allen wrote:Those look like T24's rather than T18's due to the tapered mouth of the horn.
On a side note I've been running the T18's for 8 years now with the same $25 MCM woofers and they're still going strong. They'll be on our 4th of July parade float next Monday along with the 12 volt rig.
