If it helps we've used a variety of these from 10-100w. Quality across the couple dozen or so was pretty consistent, I think 1 doa.. They throw light a bit better than expected for the price, relative to their power rating. Remote control worked well too as some were mounted 15'+ up on truss..

I like the idea of these...I wonder what it'd take to convert them to DMX control?

So i just received the 18w par in the mail today and it was packaged horribly. when i turned it on, 3 out of 6 green LED's where not working. as cheap as it was i kinda expected it.

was excited to open it up and fiddle around with it but ive already requested a refund through ebay.

gonna try picking up the RGB flood light suggested by Brent Evans. i trust Amazons shipping better since they usually put the product in a cardboard box instead of most sellers on ebay where its just shipped in a plastic bag.

gonna see if i can incorporate the DMX boards to the flood light.

I put eight of these in a church and they work great. They're crazy bright. Id call them the equivalent of the chauvet par hex 12 without the UV

For inexpensive lights, I have had pretty good luck with PE's Talent brand. Also, I think Monoprice and MCM seem to be building a line of their own store brand DMX lights. They are all Chinese lights like are on eBay. But it's nice to have a US company for warranty and support.

Thanks to this thread, I have now started moding my Talent PAR 64s to upgrade them to wireless DMX. Guess that will probably void the warranty

Don't waste your time, I have yet to see a report anywhere of these working with advertised capacity or just more often than a couple of charges.
Just get 'brand name' 18650 Lithium Ion batteries and a 3x or 4x battery holder, that does work.

You could also go around to computer repair shops and buy used li-ion laptop batteries. Crack em open and you can get anywhere from 4-10 18650. I cleaned out a local computer store, ended up with 40 good cells for ~ $50.

Man there is so much info out there about fake 18650. after reading your comment, i spent the last couple hours researching 18650's. I got sucked into the youtube/google tunnnel. lol

I found that the current top 2 make/model 18650's are:

Panasonic: NCR18650B 4pack ~ $25USD on amazon
LG: HG2 - 4pack ~$34 USD on amazon

Just an update

I finally got a chance to do some testing. so i bought a 12v 8xAA battery holder from radio shack yesterday and hooked it up to 1m LED light strip. also just picked up some AA batterys from the local dollar store.

I turned it on yesterday at ~11:30am. close to 24 hours later it is still on. lol

i took these picture about 7 hours after the initial start:





I forgot to take a pic side by side to 1m that was plugged in but after 7 hours i would say it was about 20-30% less brighter compared to the one plugged in.

Heres a pic this morning at 10:30am of the system:



the starting voltage was ~12.4v and after 23.5-24 hours later the voltage is 7.26


Now i gotta figure out how i wanna house it.
