Driver id help

#1 Post by jimbo7 »

I found some NOS Ampeg 10" drivers and hope I can use them for a BFM design. They're made by Eminence, 8ohm, 200watts. There's some number on the magnet sticker that says 86-531-08 and 10138A. Any ideas what the model/specs are?

Ampeg won't tell you, Eminence might.

The very low Qes and short xmax makes them marginal at best. I can't figure what Ampeg would have used them for, they'd be almost useless for bass. Did Ampeg ever make a 1x18/2x10 like Peavey? That's the only use I could see for them, crossed over at 200-300Hz.

These are from the old style 210SVT cabinet that was designed to be used over the single 15SVT.
It was used for mid extension and is nothing like the small stand alone 210 they currently have.
There were not very many of these made but a lot of people want them now.

Glad I didn't buy any yet! As soon as I saw the xmax, I knew they'd probably be no good. Thanks for the help.

I was speaking of the 210 cabinets. I have no idea if the drivers had other applications.
