I've been keeping an eye on these things. Think maybe it's time to jump. Would be perfect for the tubas/titans. And I believe they're going to be pretty affordable. There are several more videos, but nothing blows up in them.

They won't be available until October at the earliest. They had to change them to incorporate a USB port, otherwise the average user couldn't program them. AFAIK the retail will be in the vicinity of $50.

Does this go in line between the amp and driver?

Inside the cabinet, runs from speaker line voltage. An external model is in the works.

Does the dfend unit die when it sees that kind of voltage? ( haven't read up on it yet) I wonder how it sounds - if you can hear it working.

there are several videos but they do not quite explain other function than a protection circuitry (it is a signal processor also ?? ie xover maybe a phase correction like bbe maximizer )

Around $50? What an investment! I do have 1U open in my rack, so a d-fend that's rackmountable would be sweet!

In one of the videos they dump a 6k lab gruppen into at clip. No ill effects to the driver or the circuit.

I didn't hear him say where all of that power is actually going. I wonder if they've tested it for hours straight.

apparently this isn't "dissapitive" blowed if I know how it does it but sooooo clever.

253, views on that vid, obviously breaking news eh Leland! It'll be all over the interweb in a week.

Mindblowing capabilities!

I got the impression the excess power is diverted to another chip that essentially ramps up to infinite resistance. Just like the amp is unhooked from a load. When I first talked to tech at eminence about them they told me it's very musical, not abrupt or choppy at all like a limiter/compressor can be.

Jeeeez the guy is boring tho! I couldn't be bothered sitting thru it all! I didn't even get to the technical bit. Suppose I'll try again tomorro.

I found it quite informative. That's only 10 minutes. Try five years for a BS.

Would that give a valve amp the heebie jeebies?
