Rainproof screening.

#1 Post by Harley »

I have a client who has asked for rainproof screening to sit in behind the expanded metal grilles of his cabs.

He has several old JBL cabs that already have perf metal grilles with a fine mesh screen behind it which is supposedly rainproof but my guess is it will keep out misty type rain, but not the hard driving stuff. He wants to repeat that on his new BFM DR280 cabs.

So, does anyone know what this stuff is, what brand name it goes by and more importantly, where I can buy it?

Not familiar with it, but anything truly rainproof would have a serious impact on the sound.

Probably just screenwire. It would pretty seriously affect cab performance. You could probably line the grille with pet screen and get at least resistance anything but straight in rain.
If it's too loud, you're even older than me! Like me.

That's what the JBL stuff looked like but it was touted as "rain-proofing"

Indeed - but it's JBL so it has to be true :wall:

No no, I believe you might be thinking about Behringer ;)

All companies should learn something from them, from their quality of products to the design/business ethics they employ......

Pet screen would do that job nicely.

Maybe just fiberglass screening, as used for window screens for a house? It isn't metal, so it can't rust.

It's commonly sold in black.
