I know this sounds 1980s, but I'm looking for a self-contained unit for radio in my house and on my patio. Something I can carry around based on where I need it.
HD radio would be great, so would a line in or ipod dock.
Ideas or recommendations?

Re: Boombox
How are you planning to power it? Battery, A/C line in, or a combination of both?
For OTA HD RADIO, I have yet to see any portable solutions. Car audio is as small as I have seen them.

Re: Boombox
I got, or rather, Santa brought me, a Sony Xplode. It's got the mp3 line in, and adequate volume, but the bass is very much boombox bass, full of harmonics. The superbass button helps match the ear sensitivity (i.e. superbass to make bass apparent at low volumes, and two levels of less for matching the internal sub to the speakers at higher volume). It's still nice to have, but now I'm spoiled for clear bass. Also, it has low levels of white noise whenever it's on.
