How well does PL stick to metal?

#1 Post by la malta »

I remember another topic where somebody mentioned using something like this as something for the feet of Otops or Jacks to sink into while stacking. But after hearing so many storiess about spun H-nuts and the like I wondered if using PL to fasten these to our cabs would work, or if they would just easily get knocked out or fall off over time (and yes that little hole in the corner would obviously have to get covered up)?

If my experience with T-nuts is any representation... not very well at all. PL is supposed to stay "permanently flexible".

Epoxy seems the way to go.

PL is not sufficient for H-nuts. I have used Gorilla Glue, and a 2 stage epoxy. The Epoxy is defiantly better...but there is a lot more waste...unless you have 15 to 20 H-nuts to glue down in a 15 minute window of time.

Disheartening. :( Epoxy would be the best then?

I'm getting closer to my home: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 602_263622

If we could find something like this without the hole in the middle I think we would be in pretty good business.

I have bought bits and pieces from that seller, and can recommend.

I plan on potting in t-nuts with epoxy mixed with glass shards, it was recommended to me by the supply house.

Sandblast or scrape up the fasteners somehow, as the epoxy needs something to bind to - and the smooth zinc coating is less then ideal.
-AutoTuba; Tang Band 8 inch (x1)
-T39; KappliteLF, 22 wide (x2)
-More to come!
