Crown xti 2000 for 4x T48 3015lf

#1 Post by Craig »

Hi I am interested to know if the Crown Xti 2000 would be a suitable power amp to drive 4x T48 subs loaded with single 3015lf drivers.

Some on the board have suggested that the older style amps are better for sub duty rather than these cheaper digital crowns.

Have also heard it said that it is better to use an amp with more power than required when running subs. The "head room" in the amp is said to deliver a fuller, punchier sound.

I have been using a Alto Mistral 2500 Power Amp (450wrms @ 8 Ohm Stereo) for the subs and even though its rated power output is less than the driver rating it seems OK and have never needed to run amp on maximum to get good SPL's.

I currently have a xti1000 runing 2x 3-DR250 a side and have no complaints. Am considering the xti 2000 to utilise the DSP for Xover settings and delay.

thanks Craig

Personally I'd rather have an xti4000, but I run a PLX3602 to power my set of 4. Will the xti2000 work, absolutely. It will likely never burn up the 3015LF's either at full output. It's a hair below what I'd want but it's also not seriously underpowering the T48's either.

I looked at the XTI 2000 to power mt 4 T48's also but got the 4000 instead and I use the internal limiter and crossover and delay.
If you can get the 4000

4 x T48 24.5" 3015LF
8 x 112 Otops

NEXT 2 x DR280's

+1 to upgrade to a 4000. I currently use a xti2000 on 4x T39 3012lf, and it does not perform as well as I'd like. Even before my external limiter turns engage, the amplifier clip lights can flash a little bit. No headroom
