Install amps for home use
Is there any reason to not use an install amp for a home sub use? My buddy is building 2 slim T60 for a media room and we have access to a cheap 2 x100 amp class d. It is a Lab Gruppen e series, even has auto-on. According to specs it is 4hz to 42khz.
2x T39, 1x T60, 1x THTLP, 1x AT(not built by me) 6x DR250

The only downside is fan noise. As pro audio amps aren't meant to be in quiet living rooms the fans on them often just go all out when the thing is switched on.

As for the fan noise, other contenders are Berry EP1500 ($100), QSC GX5 ($200) or Ashley FTX/FET (usually around $200 shipped on eBay. The QSC and Berry are already sourced locally. All of them have various fan noise issues to be dealt with.
I have heard Sony TAM2e before and it specs similar to the Lab....and it sounded good but that was on lesser speakers.
As for the crossover it is all handled via the receiver. We are doing duals for room mode not output.
Before anyone starts on wrong subs etc...side by side sound tests were done and there was no difference in sound quality that we could hear between THTLP 36" wide dual MFW15 and a T60 27" lab loaded. At the end of the day I am sure there could be some max output difference and 3hz we couldn't hear, but I was not about to test that in my house.

Sounds like past the fan noise there should be no real difference, or nothing pointed out anyways. I just wasn't sure if there was something I might be missing.
Thanks guys. Now to just get him to commit to the purchase.
