In a PA, absolutely, 31 channel eq (okay, I use 29).
As a bass cab, the Jack is so different from what else is around here (which is not saying much), my Shuttle 3.0 (got at a discount nib) gets me where I want to go, and shakes the house doing it (with one cab). Anytime I'm over a nickel up on the master and main with two cabs, forget it. Nice thing about the Shuttle is it has what Antonz has in the Puma, with headphone out and an aux in. iPod on the aux in for practice, headphone out for silent practice. Unfortunately, almost double the price range, but used may be less.
Of course, I normally run a WTDI through FOH (Jack112L's), which puts my DI right in the OP's price range - now you need an amp, which you should have anyway.
