DIY Amp for studio monitors (Tannoy system 800)

#1 Post by petegt »

Running arround in circles here trying to decide which amp to get for my tannoy system 800 studio monitors :conf:

System 800

Frequency response: 47 Hz - 20 kHz

Recommended amplifier power 60 to 180 W rms into 8 ohm

Power handling Average Programme
90 W rms - 180 W rms

Nominal Impedance: 8 ohm

Sensitivity: 92 dBSPL / 1 W @ 1 m

So I am considering the sure tripath amps 2x100 or 4x100 or something from 41hz.com

I will run them with the passive crossovers first but want the possibility of going fully active using the mini dsp I own.

any suggestions?
2 TAT 16" loaded with JBL GTO 804 + V plate
Tannoy Precision 8D monitors, Tannoy System 800 monitors
Minidsp 2x4, Berry DCX2496, Lem 420 amplifier

To do:
17" Autotuba with JBL GTO 1002D 10"
