I built a 36^3 TubaHT to go with my La Scala's quite a number of years ago and it's just been killer.
Now for my truck, I have a little 10" sealed JL sub, but it's just not the same. It feels so ... forced and not easy like my TubaHT at all.
The box is:

Sub is:

Now checking specs against the Truck Tuba, I need a QTS of 0.3 to 0.5. The JL is 0.62. Everything else is in range.
As I am ignorant, how bad would this driver be then, as I already have it?
I appreciate the feedback greatly.

The JL driver is spec'd for what it's in, a small sealed box. It's not going to work well in a horn. Sell the sealed sub, use the $$ to buy a suitable driver.

You are awesome sir. I had figured. Just wanted to triple check.

I don't know enough about this stuff to say what effect using your driver will have. However, I've used the recommended 8" driver in a Tall AutoTuba and also a TruckTuba. It doesn't disappoint in the least.
The biggest gains in building a TruckTuba won't be so much in the driver selection, but building the cab as wide as possible... same story as all of Bill's other horn designs... (which you must be well aware of, with your 36" monster!)
For any price, I'd stand and recommend the MCM driver. It works really well. It's just icing on the cake that it only costs $30-$40.

Thanks for the reply. Oh I’m well aware of the effects of width
Nice setup too. No doubt it thumbs!
