Table Tuba 18" plans

#1 Post by bschex » Sun Sep 01, 2019 9:40 am

Hello all,
I purchased plans for a Tuba HT and a Table Tuba and built both. I was listening to a movie last night and reminded myself of just how astoundingly good the Table Tuba sounded. After the movie I got a tape measure out and figured out that I built it as and approximately 18" cube. Then I went to my computer and looked at the Table Tuba plans I bought back in 2011 and realized that the layout starts with two 29.75" sides. I read though the plans and found where it states that one can get a better sound by making it 18" wide. However, I see no alternate plans for making the sides 18". The one I built looks dimensionally like the one shown under the Tuba 18. Am I just looking at the wrong plans that I saved? Is there a different plan that I might have purchased and used to build the Table Tuba with the demensions of the one I built? I would like to a couple more for both of my sons. How can I find plans that match the 18x18x19 demensions described in the first line describing the Tuba 18? Is the Table Tuba the same plans?

I don't understand when you say you built an 18" cube. Is it a Table Tuba or a T18?

Also, the width has nothing to do with the length or depth of the sides - that stays constant. The 18" width is the panel width that goes between the two sides.

6 - T39 4-25" 2-22" 3012LF
4 - OT12 2512 Melded/NSD2005
1 - T24
2 - XF210

If your speaker is 18x18x19 it's not a Table Tuba, it's a Tuba 18. For it to be a Table Tuba it would have to be 29.75 x 29.75 x 18.

So I must have bought the Tuba 18 plans at aound the same time as the other plans but did not save them. Can I recoup those plans, or do I have to buy them again? That is obviously the size Tuba I built. I also built the Tuba HT as un upright with an 18" driver. The sound is enormous and deep but seems sluggish compared to the Tuba 18. I'm guessing that's because of the difference of throw between the 8" driver and the 18" driver.

We need proof of purchase for a plans update. The THT is not designed to use an eighteen, which might explain why it doesn't sound right, but since the THT extends over an octave lower than the T18 that would make a huge difference as well.

Don't know if I communicated this well, but I am now figuring out that I bought the plans for 3 Tuba designs. The THT, Tuba 18 and Table Tuba. I built the THT and the Tuba 18 and never built the Table Tuba. I recognized this from the first responses. I have the plans still for the THT and the Table Tuba but somehow didn't save the plans for the Tuba 18.
