TLAH Plan Change Questions (Rectangular Version)

#1 Post by buzzb87 » Tue Feb 21, 2017 10:56 am

With the new TLAH plan changes (Rectangular Version), the front baffle is now longer (42"), and the transmission line is now longer (40"), with the depth of the transmission line increasing as well.
Q1) How do these changes affect the performance of the speaker?
Q2) The front baffle now goes below the transmission line, is this to increase the tilt to the listener when they are floor mounted?
Q3) Will increasing the back to be the width of the speaker, and mounting it directly to the sides (for the purpose of build simplicity), which increases the size of the transmission line port, have a negative effect of the speaker?
Thank you in advance for any answers to these questions!

It's taller to use nine drivers instead of the original eight. Otherwise being a transmission line the dimensions aren't critical, though you wouldn't want the cross section to be smaller.

Bill, thank you for the response. Just so I don't mess things up, the critical dimensions for the transmission line is the height of the transmission line, but the depth of the transmission line could be made to be a little larger, as long as the taper of the transmission line is maintained?
Also, what is the purpose of the front baffle extending below the transmission line on the floor mounted rectangular version.

Thank you,

That's correct.

Tilt back.
