#1 Post by EndreV » Sun Jan 29, 2017 4:02 pm

Hi,

What kind of subhorn(s) would you guys recommend for a stereo system with Klipsch La Scala II's? My listening room is 215 square feet.

Tuba HT or Tuba HTLP. It takes a lot of sub to keep up with LaScalas.

2 subs is better than 1, it smooths the peaks and nulls .
mine are placed in opposite corners .
building BFM speakers isn't a hobby , it's an addiction

1 x THT
1 x autotuba
2 x dr250 melded
2 x titan 48
2 x wedgehorn 10
2 x tlah

Build at least 2.

If you have room consider 36" wide THTLP too.

Not with two. A pair of 24" is the equivalent of one 48". Not that you couldn't use a pair of 36", but the law of diminishing returns says don't bother.

I run a 24" THTLP in my living room as a coffee table with modded Klipschorns. It's very satisfying what effortless bass in the lowest octave brings to the party. Most of the time the system plays background classical music from an HDradio station. The sub adds another dimension at this low volume not just for the fundamental notes of the bass instruments but for the entire presentation. There is a sense that the sub is breathing the air of the venue into my room or that the floor of the concert hall is present in a way that it wasn't before even with the very capable Khorns.

For other types of music at louder levels it's unique in my 45 years in this hobby to have essentially unlimited bass at my command which can rattle the windows and doors yet remains fast and tuneful - never bloated.

I may try mine standing up in a corner with the mouth facing the ceiling to see what boundary/corner gain gets me but honestly I have plenty now.

Build one or more - you won't be sorry!

I turns out I might just get my hands on a pair of THTLP 15x18x72" with Eminence Lab12 drivers and a Behringer Inuke 3000dsp amp. Will those horns keep up with my La Scala´s?

Splitting hairs, but the Dayton DVC or HF would be ideal. Like was said....essentially unlimited bass.
