SLA Pro drivers on sale?

#1 Post by beofservice » Thu Apr 20, 2017 3:10 pm

I haven't bought the plans for SLA Pros, and do not know what drivers are considered a good match for the cabs. However, if the Dayton 6" pro driver is suitable I wanted to mention they are on sale for $17 each right now. Per the reviews people like them. Pretty efficient considering size and brand.

They'll work, but the recommended Eminence are better. Buy once, cry once.

They were not in my plans, either. I had asked if there was a driver that would work in my situation, that cost less, and that didn't need to be as powerful as the one in the plans.

I know that feeling. After using a MCM driver and wanting more, I decided it's easier just to buy the premium driver. As the old saying goes......

Having tried and measured both on the same day in identical cabs and measuring conditions, I can say that "better" in this case is purely academic. The eminence have a slight rise in the mids (1-2db) which I always eqd out when using those cabs. Construction quality is virtually identical. We replaced all the eminence in our cabs with Daytons and saw no dinishment in output and we preferred the sound of the Daytons. In my very humble opinion, the Dayton should be the recommended driver and the eminence the alternate.
