Simplexx filter protection?

#1 Post by Chopthebass » Mon Jul 25, 2016 9:46 am

I have seen some commercial cabs have a bulb as protection for the HF horn. The Simplexx plans don't show this. Is it needed? Is my horn safe without one?

I am using the Eminence BG8 horn (think that's the name)

I believe that is there to help against people plugging and unplugging the speaker while the amp is on, and morons cranking the gain to 11.
I think if you follow good gain structure set up and stay under your voltage limit, you'll be cool.

It's there to help compensate for the deficiencies of the cheap tweeters and inadequate high pass filters used by commercial bass cab manufacturers.
