New coax speaker for Simplex models

#1 Post by Bruce Weldy » Fri Mar 15, 2019 10:38 am

Came across some new speakers today (I think they are - I haven't seen 'em before)

Eminence is making some Neo Coaxial Speakers now.

It the KL series.

KL3010CX http://www.eminence.com/speakers/speake ... KL3010CX_8
KL3012CX http://www.eminence.com/speakers/speake ... KL3012CX_8
KL3015CX http://www.eminence.com/speakers/speake ... KL3015CX_8

They are expensive, but have better power handling and look to be more sensitive than the Beta models.

Question is - will they outrun the ASD1001 in the Simplex designs?

6 - T39 4-25" 2-22" 3012LF
4 - OT12 2512 Melded/NSD2005
1 - T24
2 - XF210

These will be added to the appropriate plans when they're available to buy. They won't outrun the ASD 1001 because they use the ASD 1001. They differ from the Beta CX drivers in that they use Kappalite 30xx frames and motors. They're better than the Beta CX in that they have much higher xmax, but they're also three times the price. I'm not recommending the 3015CX because the integrated HF horn is too short with too small a mouth to go lower than 2kHz, which isn't low enough with a direct radiating fifteen inch woofer.

I've been considering building a couple of monitors to see how they go. Mainly was just posting this for info in case anyone wants to build some.

The price is a pretty high premium.....I guess it's pretty much an HO model with the coax option...
