My first ever speaker build. To be used as my ‘grab and go’ bass rig with a GKMB200.

Still testing eq sweep/ranges for my desired tone.

Great build experience.

Now... maybe a Titan 39 for a sub ?

You're a gigging bass player?
If yes, the rest of the band may get very upset with you if you throw a sub up on stage as well.
Sub frequencies are omni directional, so you should get subs from Front of House.

Other than that, nice build!
So nice in fact, you should build another

Good looking cab! Well done

How was the build? Did you complete it fast or spread it out over time?

What driver did you use and did you happen to get a completed weight?

Sub? Where? What, this thing? Awe, guys, this is just my home built bass cab. Tiny amp, don't you guys worry about a thing.

The rest of the band, 10 minutes later... :noob: :noob: :noob: :noob:

Once you get it dialed in, please give a report on your impressions using it as a bass cab. Well done!

Update: Completed weight = 20.8 lbs with Deltalite 2510

Using GKMB200 (166W @ 8ohm) and P-Bass rehearsed with my loud rock combo last night in our small rehearsal space .. worked great. Volume and headroom to spare. Compliments from the band. "You could gig with that in our smaller clubs". I will try that over schlepping my 2x12 1000W cabinet.

One trip from the car into the rehearsal space. 21 lbs is an easy 1 hand carry. Exactly the 'grab and go' portability that I was shooting for.

Still testing EQ sweep / ranges for tone .. but I have nicely dialed in good tones with both my P Bass and J Bass. For most of my work I favor a 'warmer' 'rounder' tone .. and have been able to achieve.

Overall great experience (aside from my old Bosch table saw crapping-out mid-build). I used the build guide verbatim, no deviations from the plans, steps, order etc. Built over about 3 weeks from start to finish.

On the subject of Titan 39 .. seems like the recommendation here is that a sub on stage would be unwelcome overkill ? I don't have much (any) experience with subs ... but my amp designer friend has been goading me into building a bass amp (his design) and adding a Titan.

Neither supports my 'grab and go' goals .. but for outdoor / larger gigs ?

Subs belong on the PA, not the backline. The only exception would be if you have a combo with a weak low end, but that's not the case with the J10. OTOH if your PA doesn't have subs it should.

There is no reason for a bass rig with a sub unless you don't have PA support. If you are running through the PA, then you want the smallest rig on stage that you are able to hear to monitor you sound. Let the PA handle getting you out to the masses.

If you are just miking vocals and there's a couple of guitar players with Marshall stacks, then yeah, build a big rig with a sub - but, you could do the same thing with a stack of J10s.....or J12s

Having built a J15....I'd rather roll a T39 than carry a J15.

No doubt! But a four J15 stack would look pretty awesome! Mountain, Hendrix, Grand Funk. I better go to the shop and do something productive now.
