LEDs need DC power and the amps delivers AC.
So you need a extra circuit for the LEDs.

I had wondered the same thing a few times over the years, but never got serious enough about it to figure it out. I assume it would require a full bridge rectifier, a polarized capacitor, and a 5 voltage regulator. I have no idea what that load would present to the amplifier and if there would be any considerable downside. I do have some cheapo passive speaker cabs with an LED light that comes on, brighter with more power. So, it is possible.

Personally, I'd probably choose to power and control them from an exterior source and just put a bulkhead fitting to pass power/control signal through. Lot's of cool possibilities with the latest Smart LED's. Flowing rainbow of color, sparkling light... could even have them strobe or incorporate them into a DMX lighting show.

Could be pretty neat-o.
