Over my holiday mini-vacation I had the itch to build something. My T24 has been sitting unused and buried in the corner of my storage unit for a while. To make more room for the T39's, the little chunky fella had to go. So out goes the bp102 and hardware. I'll say this; the next time I build a T24 sized cab, I'll use the correct size wheels and add a telescoping handle to the back. That thing sucks dragging it by the mouth handle all hunched over. As with all my retired builds, I gave it a cremation ceremony. I think I heard Sarah Mclachlan playing and shed a tear as I watched it turn to ash.
So over the course of a few days I knocked out the simplex 10 while the weather was still abnormally warm. It was a pretty simple build made with the finest grade sheet of 4x4 plywood Home De Pot has to offer (it has 5 ply's, alright). Didn't take many pics since time and daylight were a factor. I haven't duratex'd it yet and need to order chevron corners. I wasn't diggin the metal corners the t24 had since all my other cabs have plastic chevrons. Still debating if I want to put handles on it. What I learned on this build is even though you were smart enough to paint the corners before gluing, you weren't smart enough to paint the endgrain corners of the baffle. And that spray paint doesn't always blend well with roller paint. I have a ton of egg crate foam I got from work that I used as dampening material. I used it on my OT12's and it's worked very well with 3m spray glue.
So what's the weight of this thing!? Bare wood cab with no driver or hardware, it came in at 17lbs (7.7kg) as shown in the 3rd pic. All painted and assembled (without handles) it came in at 24lbs (10.9kg) as shown in the 4th pic, which is weird because the driver weighs 9lbs. Still it's surprisingly light but super stiff with the bracing. That's why I'm debating handles. I haven't tested it with any intruments, but bass heavy music it holds it own. Still keeping my T39's, though

Man oh man, why did I watch that video? Silly maybe, but, I found it to be sad.
Glad you like the S10, so far. Are you adding a tweet?

It looks like you've got a front to rear brace out of place.

It might not be "as close as possible", but I'm not worried.Bill Fitzmaurice wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2020 8:52 am It looks like you've got a front to rear brace out of place.
Tom, I'm not sure what I wanna do. That's why I left out handles, too. I'll put a grill on it later down the road.

Re: Simplex 10 NOW WITH MORE WEIGHT MEASUREMENTS!!!
If the back vibrates it's not too late to put a brace in, you'll just have to pull the driver to do it. See your sketchup for where it's supposed to be.
Re: Simplex 10 NOW WITH MORE WEIGHT MEASUREMENTS!!!
I've tested it thoroughly and it's not making any noise at all. Feels totally soild. I scooted the brace over to the center of the centerline and the edge and driver (1/4 distance from driver and to the right edge of baffle) thinking that it might rattle. So far so good. I'm not 100% finished, so the driver will come out again in the future. Just testing now without tweet or handles to see if I like it.
For grills, would 5x3 neo magnets be strong enough to stay put? I got a bunch of them. I think it'll make it look really clean and be easiest to make. My SLA Pro's need grills bad.

Re: Simplex 10 NOW WITH MORE WEIGHT MEASUREMENTS!!!
I actually use the neo magnets to attach my grills on my SLA pros. Are used screws as standoffs on the face and then put a couple magnets on top of the screws and the grill stuck right to them. They have not fallen off yet. They do vibrate slightly while I am playing them though.
You can check out my build thread or go to the SLA pro sales page to check them out. The pictures he uses is actually pictures of my build. I must’ve done something right!

Re: Simplex 10 NOW WITH MORE WEIGHT MEASUREMENTS!!!
I actually made a thread about forming some grills for my SLA's. I ditched the "easy to remove" idea with a more simple formed and pressed fit design. I figured I wouldn't need to remove drivers and didn't want to chance anything rattling.
