2 x Tuba 45 build

#1 Post by rfauske »

Then I have started ny Tuba 45 build, trying to get it done during the week.

Glad that I got an flatpack, it almost feels like cheating when building it.

Looks good!! Don’t forget to really glue up those pieces before you lay on the side piece. ;)

I noticed, have dry fitted the side now and needed quite a bit of force to line things up som letting it sit over night before double checking things and clearing out the dust.

The air is quite damp so that could have dome to do with it..

Tip - It took some extra time, but i drew the horn path on the outside of the 2nd side piece, which you are basically copying the 1st couple of steps on the build. This way i knew where to drive the screws into when i placed that piece on.
I also left a little extra on that side piece, so i could just router it flush afterwards, since i have a hard time keeping things perfectly square.

Looks like it will turn out fine :) got it ligned up rather nice and will do some sanding and router work tomorrow . Biggest problem was to mount side two fast enough for the glue not to dry

The slots are for sliders when stacking.

Same way as you can see here viewtopic.php?f=26&t=25291

Looks really good.

It's difficult to tell for sure in the pics, but that looks thicker than 1/2" / 12mm ply throughout. Or, is it only the exterior panels that are thicker?

The sides and long side with handles are 18mm, mostly because of how its cnc'ed I think. So its a bit heavy

Just the side panel left, tested it a bit without it just to test that the amp and speakers works and I think this is going to be some serious overkill for what I need. But thats just cool :)

Its impressive how little cone movement is needed to make a lot of sound out the horn.
