Probably. In order to minimize cancellations off the wall behind the speakers the low frequency sources should be close to the wall, the midbass sources far from the wall. That way the 1/4 wavelength cancellation notch will occur above the subwoofer pass band and below the mains pass band.
Re: Omnitop12, my first
I could have worked to position everything to get better sound in the room. Honestly it sounds really good with minimum eq. My biggest gripe would have to be the high frequency extension limit that the asd-1001 compression drivers seem to have they tend/seem to fall off hard over 10khz. I would like to hear strong signal out to 15-17khz but I can relatively eq in what I want. I mostly wanted to put the rig in my living room so I could admire it.
Let me the first to say I hate sound systems build for ascetics over sound quality but to be honest much of my current clientele Are more interested in the visual aspect, and I can not seem to convince anyone otherwise. I’m serious half the time my presence in a more about The prestige of having a dj and not even about what music I play or how it sounds.
The next thing is real world applications, I have the theory down for placement and how to avoid cancelations I know I know, real world I seem to get away with a lot. This setup has cancelations sure but not enough for me to stress it.

It has been a while since I have posted up anything. At the first of the year I fabricated some stands to fly my rig 12’ in the air. It’s awesome but adds 2 hours to my setup and tear down. I charge more if my client wants that caliber of rig setup. I finally optioned to paint or duratex my rig. It took me 2.5 gallons with two coats rollered on. I did my six otop12s and my 5 tuba45s as well as my amp rack. The stuff is not indestructible but it sure looks nice. Easy enough to touch up too.
I have been a member here for 6 years now and been hobby DJing for 7. This year was the first year we spent less on the little business adventure than we made. By now we are pretty happy about where we are at. We still only advertise by word of mouth and are just busy enough to still enjoy some free weekends.
I wish to express gratitude to the members of this forum and the product that Bill offers. It has helped me have a lot of success.

The out door event we did was a car and bike show at Tucson Harley Davidson a few weeks ago. Set up everything and blasted classic rock and outlaw country all day. It was awesome. I really like my sound rig. We did a high school home coming last week and played full tilt to 400-450 crazy screaming kids. It was epic. I sure do enjoy bringing some heat to events like that.

I may have tried to bring too much heat to that dance as I have damaged a few of my high frequency horn drivers. Both of these units gave up the ghost. I had never blown any of this equipment until now. The cabs that were effected are the set that I use the most and are the oldest. It’s possibly just fatigue from heavy use and time though. It’s not clear to me if I actually over drove them into failure.
I don’t see anywhere an option for coil/cone replacement options for the Eminence add-1001 drivers but the element is easy enough to remove. Does anyone know if there is rebuild parts available anywhere. At $40 a unit it’s easy enough to just buy whole replacement but man what a waste.
I am considering building some horns for dual compression drivers to fit my Otop12 cabs. That would be a pretty easy upgrade.

Glad things are working out for you, sound wise (tweeters being the exception). Also, it is nice to actually start gaining ground on the funds.

This is what I get when I try to move forward with placing an order directly with Eminence.
I sent an email to Partsexpress to see if they can support my request. I also have a brick-and-mortar contact from the Eminence website for dealer support that I will reach out to. If I succeed I shall let you know.

I had no problem adding it to my cart. Can't comment on why you can't, since you don't show your location.

Yay, glad to see you finally took the duratex plunge. No better way to make your DIY cabs look pro than some bumpy black paint.

Not to mention letting you lower the crossover point to 1.2khz. You will notice an element of "warmth" you haven't heard before.Bill Fitzmaurice wrote: ↑Sat Oct 29, 2022 11:07 amA lot easier upgrade would be to use the F151M-8 driver. The higher sensitivity is the equivalent of doubling the power handling.
