Just bite the bullet and buy a 6x10 trailer with a ramp. Cut your loading and unloading in half. Even with your wife complaining incessantly about the trailer in the drive - it's still worth it.J_Dunavin wrote: ↑Thu Sep 06, 2018 10:27 am Woah! Those are awesome!
The 24s I had were so nice to move, but I have a dolly, so the 45s should be fine, though I am not going to store them in my basement. No way am I hauling them in and out every gig. I hope the cold wi winter's will be ok on the 3012s out in the garage.

I borrow a 4x8 enclosed that I can use pretty much whenever I want.
My own trailer would be nice, but I have no room to store one at the moment.

You don't store them - you display them proudly in the driveway. Your wife will love it....trust me.

Ya right.. every time I mention a gig , or speakers, or Menards. I get this.....
(Actuall picture she texted me, though it was unrelated)
In other happy news, Christmas came early!!
I really wanted the Lab12s but I figured the extra sensitivity and 2 extra ohm of impedance will go a little easier on my older amps.
The tower in the background is a set of home theater speakers I made back in ... 04ish I think.
All vifa drivers from Madisound, still rockin'

You need a 'right back at 'cha' shot for when she talks about shoes, clothes, or whatever other stuff she has to show you after shopping that you really couldn't care less about.
Re: 6 Tuba 45s
Test fit the 3012s, all seems pretty good, though I will have to notch the door flanges, that's not to big of a deal.
Got panel 7 on here with two pieces of scrap tacked down to hold it in place.
Cutting braces for panel 8.
In an effort to have more consistent braces I made a simple guide, that rides in the miter rail.
Cut a piece of scrap to sit in the rail. ( Bees wax helps it glide) then tac the top 1st, then disl in the bottom and tac it in. A 2ft square helps line up the cut pieces with the blade.
The brace and guide all ride together as you cut.
Happy with the results, I'd say everything was plus minus a 32nd. Much better than trying to free hand the cuts.
Panel 8 installed.
I left this piece long as to cover the front area.
It's not perfect but I was able to cut the end of panel 7 at a 45 to meet up with panel 8. I wanted to cut panel 8, but it's so long I didn't have a good way of cutting an angle on that and it would have been much greater that 45 deg. This was close.. a little PL and filler will take care of that.
Also cut out handles, just can't see em

Re: 6 Tuba 45s
Not two boxes exactly the same, right?
The panel 2/8 brace turned out pretty good, but had some gap at the short end. There was enough PL there to fill the gap, but I wanted some extra piece of mind.
I just took some scrap and glued it in.

Took a little break from the saw dust factory. I think my finger prints are permanently embedded with PL.

Re: 6 Tuba 45s
Totally Monday morning quarterbacking here, and I don't have the current plans to refer to, but I would have recommended that that brace be made with 2 supports, located equidistant to each other, at 1/3 and 2/3 of the way from the end caps (sides). And if you want to go nuts with supports, do the end braces at the sides as you have, AS WELL AS the 1/3 and 2/3 positions as mentioned above. That would be max support while still reducing weight.
EDIT: I see you're going 16" or 18" wide; disregard.
2 DR250s, 2 27" Lab15 T-60s, 2 30" Neo Titan 39s, 1 Autotuba...and looking for more!
Re: 6 Tuba 45s
Ya, two of them are 18 and four of them are the full 24.
Per the plans, regardless of width the first couple of braces can be singles, as they get a double bracing in the mouth area. Except for 17 wide internal which can be single all the way around.
I needed two slimmer ones for smaller gigs.
Getting closer, cut out speaker terminal holes, and even glued up two back panels.

Re: 6 Tuba 45s
Setup question:
I have a Peavey IPS 800 and 400. I know that I won't be able to get the full 50 volts out of them, and I'm ok with that for now, but fir the upcoming gig, should I run everything off just the 800? My plan was to run two in parallel on each channel of the 800 and one on each channel of the 400.
The 400 gets to 35 volts no clipping and the 800 about 45. I thought spreading things out would be better on the amps, but what are your guys thoughts?

Re: 6 Tuba 45s
I wanted something extra cool for the braces, this will have to do.
I did make the braces longer so as to only have to deal with 2 vs the 3 sets of braces, in the mouth area.

Re: 6 Tuba 45s
Three of em. End to end, ready for their sides.
Need to take a guide and the circular saw and trim up the end there on the left. Still need to order casters...
One of the 18 inch ones.
I opted to put the braces in last. I know the cabinets aren't perfect, this way I can slide the braces in and if it's not perfect I can just take the belt sander and knock down the high spots.
Happy Friday!
The of the 24inch wide ones, on their sides.
Plan is to put in braces tonight, router the edges tomorrow and lay down some black paint asap.

Re: 6 Tuba 45s
How would you guys go about cleaning this up.
The sides i could get with a flush trim bit, but I'm not sure how to get the 45 deg part nice and flush, except to go back and try to get closer with circular saw, and finish it off with the belt sander.
