8 x J-Array Adventure.

#1 Post by PrismAudio »

Well it only took 7 months of build 1 day a week because its all i had time for. They are finally done.

I Took all of bills plans and transposed into AutoCAD and hand all thr ply cut at a cabinet shop and upgraded the upper and lower stack bracket cut from 6061-T6 Aluminum at a local water jet shop. I had the coating done at shop that sprays a lineX comparable product. I had other speakers done with duratex but imo thr lineX product is far superior.

I used Deltalite 2512 and Faital HF108s. Could not be happier with the sound quality on these.

Frankly that scares the #### out of me.

PrismAudio, I hope you've explored Canadian law and flying cabs.
Bill has always said any of his designs are not to rely on the structural integrity of the cab to fly them, and that each cab should be wholly enclosed in an approved structure (signed off by a structural engineer).

Maaaate, if that falls down, it's all on you...

This was a test in my own backyard. At my house. not out in public with only me.

I was curious to see how much T-nuts could hold.. 3/8" UNC seemed pretty robust for a cabinet only weighting 20 to 30lbs. My own tests revealed that they could take a surprising amount of weight. 600lbs+. The biggest risk of a failure there would be T-nuts pulling through the plywood.

Obviously i would not rely on cabinet. There are load bars that go between the upper and lower holes thats are not shown because they arnt back from the water jet shop. 6061-T6 aluminum has a yeild tensile strength of 56000 PSI.

Great! You have a plan.
Apologies if my last post seemed a bit harsh, but there's now to many pics from around the world showing stacks falling (and sometimes the results)...

WOW! This is AWSOME!!! I just love the J-shaped array...
Good that you have decided to reinforce the "flying points" internally. That's the way to do it! I have NO doubts that they will fly with out any problems, regardless of the laws and restrictions on the matter. But Grant is right; if they drop, you'll be responsible. This is IF they drop due to the flying gear...
Again; I LOVE IT!!!!
