A few years back, I remember someone posting that the put the elastic bands on ashtrays, and used 4 of them to float the record player. This was done in a pub/bar, I believe.commander_dan wrote: ↑Thu Jan 04, 2018 10:31 pm We need to isolate or float the record player as it's causing feedback from a certain volume with the sub in the corner and so close. Will work on solving that in the next few days.

Re: T24 pair (CNC cut)
I was thinking of picking up a rubber mat and putting the record player on that, or some light foam on the feet, or both. Will have a play around, I'm sure we can solve it.

Re: T24 pair (CNC cut)
NICE BUILD! I like the compactness of the smaller cabs... Guess I'll have to make a pair of T24's when I have sold my TAT's...

Re: T24 pair (CNC cut)
Thanks! Yeah depends what you like I guess. The T24's, while compact and very portable, are not the sub for me. I'd rather lug a bigger cab around and be able to hit the very low notes at the same volume as the low notes

Re: T24 pair (CNC cut)
I have to ask: why were T24s built for home use, when a Table tuba, being slightly larger, would do a much better job?

Re: T24 pair (CNC cut)
As explained in the first paragraph of the thread:
"The plan was to build a pair of the same sub which would suit both people, for ease of building. Originally T18 was considered, and this would probably have sufficed since one friend only listens to records and the other wanted something for his HT but also the odd party. It was for this reason that we settled on T24 (party friend has a tendency to turn up, so I wanted some headroom), loaded with 3010LF, at 18" wide. I realize this is overkill for what they will primarily be used for.."
It was my suggestion, knowing both individuals would at times have tendencies to push the subs, to go for something that a) has mandated voltage limits and b) is built to take some punishment. They also wanted the cabs to be small.. I compromised as best I could. Both are very happy with the T24s..

Commander Dan what a great build documentary. I have plans for the Tuba 24 and anticipate starting the build in February - I really appreciate your detailed thread.

DasJ - here's the link to my T24 thread. Not as detailed as this one, but you never know what question might be answered that you hadn't thought of yet.

Re: T24 pair (CNC cut)
I went round to the varnish cab friends place yesterday to solve the record player feedback issue. The fix was simple. I bought a piece of medium density foam, about 50cm square and an inch or so thick. We put the record player on top of this, and were able to crank the system to full noise without any needle skipping or feedback. It doesn't look too bad either..
