Got around to making the connection cups for the Speacon connectors. Did them in 3D printing, and fitted them to each side of the cab. This way I can do the wireing from either side, even with doing a parallel setup, and they can function as handles as well. :hyper:

Final touch on the cups/handles. Did some flush trimming and new round overs. Tested the polarity of both cabs, and are now only missing the painting with Warnex. This will have to wait for a change in the weather, as it needs to be done outside. As it right now is winter in Denmark (a LOT of rain), it will probably take some time before they can be announced 100% done...

:feedback:
Just showed my two babies to a couple of equally sound interested friends yesterday, and all was impressed with the build and the general output of the small 8". One was of the opinion that the same result could be achieved with a 15" woofer in a vented cab... The boxes for each of the TAT is very close to a vented cab with a 15", and I had a hard time finding the right argument to convince him that this is a better solution. Can anyone help me?

You can get as much output from a direct radiating fifteen, using a more expensive driver, a lot more power, and with much higher harmonic distortion.

Thank you Bill. That helps.

I was thinking about weight also being an issue. How about capabilities in the low end? Could the TAT go lower than a 15"?

The size of the speaker alone is irrelevant. The cabinet design and the T/S specs determine how low a driver can go.

6 - T39 3012LF
4 - OT12 2512
1 - T24
1 - SLA Pro
2 - XF210

It depends on the 15. Remember that it's supposed to be in a car, to take advantage of cabin gain.

The other point to mention is the 'clean' sounding nature of horns, as they filter high frequencies and harmonics out to give you the fundamental note.. it's quite subtle, yet very distinctive. Might be a hard sell to the untrained ear though, I know my wife always gives me a blank look when I explain this.. :noob:

+1 :loler:

It's like the female part of the population doesn't appreciate our common interest... :?

I can't be the judge if the arguments will convince my (soon to be former) friend, but I will definitely try! Never the less, I am VERY pleased with the performance of the TAT's!

Obsessive compulsive audiophiles unit. It’s a beautiful thing, that the rest of the world does not understand.

It’s funny my wife always gets an ear full about the sound everywhere we go live shows or movies it does not matter, she says that I have ruined her because new she does it, she can’t help but analyze the sound and if it’s not on point or as good as we are used to she struggles to enjoy the show... it’s funny!

I read through most of this post and could not help but chime in:

-Nice build and posts
-There is some true magic to be found in the horn loading philosophy and this place has it.
-This forum and the people here have really taught me a lot...

Got to the stage where the small beauties got their "coat of charm"... Warnex (Duratex) applied with roll.
PS: Weather in Denmark MUCH better now... :-)

I know I had the idea of making a cargo bike myself, but that (as many other thing along the way) have changed a bit. Found this online, and it was love at first sight. Now the completion of the project suddenly is closer than ever before...
Stripping it of it's box and fitting the horns in it's place!
