Add it again...T30's at 21"
Re: Add it again...T30's at 21"
A V-plate will give you an extra free 3 db. If you split the stack for a left and a right, it would be beneficial to V-plate both stacks.

How much extta db for 2 subs normal placement vs 2 x 2 subs v-plated? (Outdoor)
Re: Add it again...T30's at 21"
Fully aware of the benefits a v-plate gives and thanks for the reinforcement. I'll try to rephrase the question.Tom Smit wrote:A V-plate will give you an extra free 3 db. If you split the stack for a left and a right, it would be beneficial to V-plate both stacks.
How many times when setting up subs do people go wide with 2 sets of subs v-plated in comparison to one stacked group v-plated? I know there's a lot of variables undefined (space, wave length, boundaries, etc...) but interested in a general idea based on everyone's experience.
Thanks again everyone for sharing your thoughts & experiences.
Cheers,
Chris

I'll go out on a limb and anyone please correct me if I am incorrect. A set of subs v-plated would be +3db when v-plated. Two sets of subs spread wide but next to each otherSvartrose wrote:How much extta db for 2 subs normal placement vs 2 x 2 subs v-plated? (Outdoor)
I believe would still only be +3db if we're talking v-plate benefits only (naturally there would be extra db from adding more subs).
Was that what you were asking?

Yes.. I guess it's:
2 subs: look at the charts
2 subs + V: charts + 3dB
4 subs + V: at 6 dB (for doubling sub-count) to chart and 3db for V-plate
So, count +9db at the chart for 2 subs..... why not 12db? (I hope it's 12dB.... )

Re: Add it again...T30's at 21"
I've never split my subs before, and only built 1 v-plate so I'd have to first make another to try this out. For the T30's, to split two pairs I'm guessing each pair wouldn't couple due to the distance of the split, so their highpass would have to be 35hz, which would mean splitting at a minimum distance of about 20m (64ft). It's not that big of a distance for outdoors for coverage, but my beef is that I would miss out on the extra extension from the subs being grouped together (pretty much the whole point of building 4 right?). For this to be an option for me, I'd need two more T30's to make 2 v-plated stacks of 4, highpassed at 30hz, split at 22m.chrisj360 wrote:How many times when setting up subs do people go wide with 2 sets of subs v-plated in comparison to one stacked group v-plated?
Unless of course I'm wrong about the split pairs not coupling for the lower high pass setting..

I believe it's one sub look at the charts. Two subs would then be +6db to the chart. Two subs v-plated would be +9db. Four subs would be +12db. Four subs v-plated would be +15db.Svartrose wrote:Yes.. I guess it's:

You can get a free +12db if you can load them into a corner or +6db firing into a wall

The +27 would be four v-plated subs put in a corner. Did I get this correct?

(I've started a new topic about V-plating and more)
