Only just saw this thread, if you fellas ever need additional titan coverage, let me know, i built 2x 24" t48's a few years ago with the eminence 3015's...used them a few times for NYE and Easter thursday gigs in Mercury bar. Alsao used them at a car show in mitchel one weekend and kept getting told to turn them down coz they were messing with the car SPL comp hehehehehe

one day ill clean my shed up enough top kick on with my 4xdr280's.......bought all drivers and tweeters ready to go....
Awesome. That is very good to know. Look our system up at https://www.facebook.com/communifi

We could definitely use extra subs for some of the outdoor shows we have been doing.

What drivers do you have for the 280s? 3012HOS? Looking for another pair to work into some expanded synergy horns!

Cheers

It's been a while since we started our own PA adventure with 'Communi-fi Sound' but I thought I'd give you an update on the latest with our system. Based on the solid foundation of 4 BFM Titan 48s loaded with Ande and 18 sound drivers we have now rounded out our Synergy horn top end with some mid/kicks courtesy of Sean 'BadmanSound'. We recently did some prettying up with LED strip lighting too. Very happy with the sound, and the punters seem to be too. Give us a like on facebook (https://www.facebook.com/communifi?ref=hl) to keep up to speed with the system and the different events we are doing in Canberra, Australia.

Here is a cellphone video of the soundcheck @ the ANU art school ball we did a few weeks ago- https://www.facebook.com/mark.lavis.33/ ... 720640927/

And a nice shot of Channel A (with our swish DJ monitors to boot!

Initial comment:

Grant Bunter:
Oh, and am I reading right?
You're sending the same passband (LF) to two different types of cabs?

If so: :cop: lol

The W Bins and T48's have different path lengths, which will invariably cause phase issues...

Two months later...
Marko:
"We were able to do away with the W bins which were giving a bizarre trough in their Frequency response, and cross directly between the titans and our Synergy horns. We managed to get +-2db from 40hz-20k hz! We were also hitting 100db 1v/m."

Marko:
"They were sounding really good but we couldn't push them any harder without flooring the amp..."

Hmmm- it's AMAZING what happens when you follow the advice here...eventually! :-P
Once the cancellation is removed, there's plenty of power in those amps to make more and (probably) deeper bass.
2 DR250s, 2 27" Lab15 T-60s, 2 30" Neo Titan 39s, 1 Autotuba...and looking for more!

Hi Rich, the post you mentioned was way back in our early testing days before we had our full set of amps- and Grant (and your) assumption we were sending the same signal to the old W bins and the titans is incorrect. We were sending different passbands to the two styles of cabs using the inbuilt crossover in the Crown amp (at this time the subs and W bins were run Mono until we had decided on other amps to buy). The notch in the passband (approx 300hz) was due to the limitations of the W bin design itself- not cancellation between them and the titans. The new kick is pretty damn flat from 100-300 and with a 105db sensitivity, plays very nicely with the rest of the system.

I see. I've never worked with "kick bins", so I wasn't sure of their operating range.

It's old technology that we don't use. There's no need for them when our mains operate from 80-120Hz all the way up.

Marko, went to check out the vid, thinking you'd be in the Refectory.

Yes, I know Canberra well...
