Thank you Chris :)

I thought these would be a walk in the park after my other recent builds. Wrong!

While not amazingly complex, they do present their own challenges...
Built:
DR 250: x 2 melded array, 2x CD horn, March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" KL3010LF , 2 x 28" 3012LF.
WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...

When's your gig? I was thinking you said in another thread that it was this weekend , or next. It looks like you're definitely in the home stretch for a home run. Oh, sorry. . .that's mixed metaphors.

But you've got a fantastic BFM system ready for it. . . The Titans with a sweet pair of 250's, and now the wedgies. It's gonna' ROCK.

Cheers Grant , on a job well done.

Chris

Spent most of the day messing with the T39's and DR's.

Got to wire up the array for cab 1 and install, wired up the NL4's and built the woofer LP.
Just have the HF filter to do and install driver and this one is usable....

Progress!

Cab 1 is done apart from finishing paint and putting on access panel. If I have time I will do grills.
I see what it means when it says driver screws need to be put in by feel.
Lucky my hands aren't any bigger than they are.

I like the way, once loaded, these cabs want to sit on the angles, self righting so to speak...

All three, cab 2 is a lot closer to finishing and cab 3 is at least ready to put together tomorrow:

I finished assembly of all three cabs yesterday. As in shells and horns on cabs 2 and 3 (cab 1 was already done, as per previous pics).

Then spent time filling screw holes with bog. And PLing those holes from trimming with the 0 degree sled (and any others requiring it).

Today, sanded the cabs down, assembled and installed the LF LP and HF filters in cabs 2 and 3.
I will unscrew the HF filter board when I put in the melded array to finish attaching the melded array to the "outs".

Then took a step away from the plans. For cabs 2 and 3, I installed the drivers before putting on the access panel flanges. Much more room to drive the screws in!
Driver covered with a cloth to prevent sawdust.

These should be done soon (they better be, they are "in use" in 8 days), though not sure if there is sufficient time for grills.

Horns painted.

End of day...

You've been a busy man Grant! No build is ever 'straightforward' is it? There is always something.

They're looking fantastic

Thanks TH,
And not a truer word (well sentence) spoken (err typed)!

Wedgie 1 is done.
Time for a quick test. Hmm where's the HF? Disconnect the woofer. There but barely audible.
Back to the schematics. Hmmm wonder if I really should have put a wire from there to there. Jury rigged one just to see. Yes, should have put a wire from there to there.
Sinking feeling. I had wired every HF filter in the same fashion (including the DR's which had now been sealed up). HF sections revisted all round.

On a brighter note (pun intended) I'm getting closer to being ready. 1 week away today for the festival.

In your last picture of the HF filter, it appears you're missing a wire between the - out terminal on the left, connected to the - input terminal on the lower right.

I saw that, but figured the wire was on the other side of the board.
In build order:
O12 with no tweeter.
3 x WedgeHorns.
2 x Jack 10 without tweeters.
2 x DR250.
2 x 16" T39
1 x Tuba 24
2 x SLA Pro (sort of...)

Byacey and Rune,

Excellent spotting, exactly the missing wire.

The coil and the resistor on the - side are parallel to the cap and resistor on the + side as they should be, just nothing inbetween

It's ok, they are now fixed and working fine. Glad I found out when I did...

Are you sure you have your phasing correct? I noticed you have the copper colored lead connected to the - out, but the minus input from the speaker jack appears to have the silver tinned lead connected.

The usual convention is to maintain the same color codes on input and output.

Good spotting again, but phasing is correct.

Seems like I don't do a lot of things by normal convention :?

Has changing the tweets from parallel to series parallel wiring been quantified?
Like, say 2dB less sensitive?

Mine seem very very bright, even with EQing.

I'll have tomorrow to sort them...
