They won't be too bright if you have adequate EQ. They can be if you don't. Switching the resistor position should only be used if your EQ isn't up to the job.

Thanks Bill!

I won't need to worry about that then, I have ample EQ...
The DEQ2496 I bought a while ago will be reserved for FOH

Just spent a couple of hours on filters and wiring melded array...

It's to cold for yesterdays paint to be dry yet.
It's snowing.

Here's the filters and the wired up array:
DSC03873.JPG
I have the lever action strippers and the artery clip in the pic for good reason.
I use the artery clip as a heatsink for all electronic work I ever do. It does a good job of protecting components and is also handy to hold things together. Heatsinking the components lets me stay a little longer with the soldering iron which helps prevent bad solder joints.
If you can find a medical supply store nearby think about getting one!

The lever action wire strippers:
The thought of cutting 40 odd bits of wire and soldering them all was unappealing and fidgety.
It occurred to me if I cut a longer than required piece of light wire, then used the lever action strippers to strip back, starting from the middle of the wire (and the middle of array), loop that over the lug then solder, same for the next lug, working all one way then back the other, I would only need to cut and strip each end.
I ended up pulling the lever action 2 to 3 times in each spot to expose enough wire.
It worked a charm, about 20 minutes to do the whole array...

edit: re (just) above regarding stripping wire. Seems it's not new at all. Tom has described this in another thread. Maybe I'm taking in stuff from this forum subliminally now lmao

Enough for today, got cattle to feed

I think that I would always want to use the 4 ohm resistor....just in case. You know...for all that it costs, why not.

Nice build so far.

Thanks Tom on the build comment. :)

I agree regarding the 4 ohm resistor and it is there.
I'm not the world's best photographer so the pic is a little blurry.
It's in line (almost) with the cap on the filter board on the right hand side of the pic.
The 4 ohm is on the left side of the board and the 30 ohm is on the right...

edit: Just to clarify to all, that pic is 1 x LF LP and 1 x HF filter, built separately for 1 cab, as per plans

My opinion?

You should move to QLD. Had a lovely 27 degree day yesterday, paint would have dried quick then :D

Good on ya Bassme, we left Longreach on Monday just past and it was warm and sunny the whole time we were there (though cool at night).

I'm becoming more patient... and it's not like there isn't more to do!

It's because they are now imported from NZ :owned:

Being in an apple growing region, I refrain from saying anything...
Otherwise it would be multiple 4 letter expletives starting with f and c etc.
