Well damn, damn, damn! Decided to finally pull the grills off my otops and glue on the foam sheets I picked up ages ago. I've sprayed adhesive and stuck grill cloth on without issue several times, but nooooo, not today. Looks like spiderman hand-vomited all over. Two different types, one 3M the other Loctite. The nozzles seemed nice and clean, but have them both soaking in solvent anyway now, and letting the gooey strings dry so I can hopefully clean them off. What the heck? Any thoughts? Any better way to stick foam to metal? Different glue? Roll on?

I had the same thing occur. Not sure if it was the nozzle, or maybe it's a function of the "grade". IIRC, I got the high strength stuff. But, there was a medium and low tack option to choose from aswell. Personally, I wondered if either of the lower strength options would have sprayed on without the cob webs. Haven't got around to testing the hypothesis yet. I just ended up putting the foam on the outside of the grill instead. Which is... meh, not exactly what I wanted. But, aesthetically not too bad either.

One side done. What a pain. Could be better, probably will try again someday but this will be good enough for now. For sure will look fine in the dark, but the next couple things coming up our outside during the daytime. Oh well

Second set went a bit better. Not sure the foam is adhered well in the middle. Maybe too hot and humid today. I think the compression around the edges will keep it in place. All four strapped back on their wagon now.

Sounds like you didn't give 'em a long time to cure. I always shoot my grills, then lay on the foam and put newspaper between the that and the next grill.....stack 'em up, put a piece of plywood on 'em and some weight on that ..... leave it overnight to cook....

Yeah, probably in too much of a hurry Bruce. I left them compressed of a couple hours, but with it being 91F and humid today, that probably wasn't long enough. Up on stands dealing out fearful db, it shouldn't matter

I ended up getting a can of the Gurilla Glue spray adhesive last time as it was the only stuff I could fine in stock.

Turns out, I think I like it for attaching grills. It doesn't really spider web like the other stuff.

I spray a heavy coat on the back of the grill and then light coat on the foam. Give them a few minutes or so to tack up and carefully unit the two.

Here's some artic "Minis" 2x6 SLA I used it on th3 other day.
