2512 vs 3012

I've looked around some, and I have discovered......not the answer I'm looking for.
2512 Xmax 4.9 mm Sd 519.5 cm2 250 wRMS
3012 Xmax 6.2 mm Sd 532.4 cm2 400 wRMS

So, it seems like there is not much advantage to the 3012 as far as max volume is concerned since the Sd is so close, or, am I reading that wrong? Looking at the SPL charts, the 3012 does seem to have a smoother response in the low end. Which driver would be most desirable when matched up with 4 T30 22" 3012 subs.

From those numbers the Vd is 254.55cc and 330.09cc which equates to just shy of 30% more displacement for the 3012.

Sd isn't a factor with respect to maximum output. Vd (Sd x Xmax) is.

Bill, So the Delta Pro 12-450A with a Vd of 272 and a weight difference of only 4lbs and 60cc and and 25w RMS to the 3012, however a savings of almost 85$ per driver says to me this is an economical and smart alternative to the Neo product. In reality, the differences in output would be small, and not nearly worth the 70% cost increase. Seems a most efficient all factors considered.

Lsatly if I can get the NSD still, would you recommend it over the new F151? I havent seen an SPL graph for the 151 updated on the site but man that NSD looks great. Looks like 25$ more but it holds on to 18k nicely with lots of headroom.

I've been a fan of the D Pro 12-450 since it was introduced. The only argument against the NSD is if you want more of them later on you may not be able to get them, but otherwise I'd use them, especially if the price was right.

I believe I found a stash! Shhhh

That was the best news I heard in a while on agreement on the 450. My guess is someday they will sunset that design as well.

Bill, I’m somewhat local and with Covid this is for sure an issue but when you have been vaccinated and are comfortable, do you have some boxes I could hear? I’m very close to doing a large quantity (12-16) build on OT12s but ideally before I embark I really want to hear them (NSD w/1.2k XO), however I trust the science as they say these days and numbera speak for themselves.

I’m in CT and get up your way every now and again.

Chris

I bought the last two Eminence had in stock after they discontinued it. So, I have those two spares and two of the diaphragms also. They are a good driver and sound really good in the OTops with the 1.2hz crossover.

The only cabs I have are those in my living room, TLAH, Curve Array and TT, and a David in my workshop. I've retired from performing.

Was that hard? I know it's coming some day, but I still love it.

It wasn't hard at all. I've only played sporadically for the last 15 years, so gigging didn't come to a sudden halt, it just faded out. It's not like I retired, I still spend six hours or more a day on line to keep my name out there.

Last question,

If something comes up and I cant go NSD, my backup plan is the BMS 4544 or 4550 (if 4544 not abailable) 1” Ferrite CD (or 4547/4552 Neo if the Ferrite arent available). Teritary to that is the DE250, however that has had numerous reports if distortion and breakup at moderately high levels.

My plan if this NSD deal falls through (or the pricing doesnt makes sense) is to put those drivers in the cab and see which measures (and sounds) the best. All of them have an Fs lower than 1k and the curve seems a good match. The BMS has better reviews from OEMs than the B&C.

I want to keep the cab all American Eminence products if I can, just a personal preference, but won’t sacrifice quality or performance if I can’t.

Glad youre still bringing your guidance, knowledge, and
wisdom to the community. I fee like the industry very much needs it. Someday when we’re out of this pandemic and the rig is completed, I’d love for you to come down and enjoy an outdoor concert with your product!!

Wow! I totally forgot about this thread. My apologies. Thanks for the info.
