4 or 6 T39’s on iTech 4000

#1 Post by Jstarr1 » Fri Aug 28, 2020 10:34 pm

Hi all,
Before Covid, I added 4 x 15” wide T39’s with LAB 12’s to my collection. I already had 2 x 26” T39’s...

I am finally going out to do a gig (besides outdoor services each week for my church).

For church, I’ve been using 2 x iTech 4000’s with a Driverack Venu 360 pushing the 4 new skinnies as well as 4 x VRX 932’s. I have yet to try all 6 subs together or to really hear this system come to life.

The iTech specs show 2000w per channel at 4 ohms and 1800 at 2 ohms.

With this, I’m not sure how beneficial it’ll be to have someone drive out the wide subs since I can’t fit all 6 in my van... I’m looking for opinions please? (The concert is in a little over a week and I’d be surprised if there was any real attendance given the whole Covid thing).

Take the two wide ones and two of the skinny ones.....should be enough with a small crowd.

6 - T39 4-25" 2-22" 3012LF
4 - OT12 2512 Melded/NSD2005
1 - T24
2 - XF210

Another detail - I have a handicap minivan that barely fits my gear but has been sufficient so far. With mixer, amp rack, monitors, stands etc. I can only fit either the 2 wides or 4 skinnies. This event is an hour from home but I can pack spare subs in my wife’s Yukon if needed...

Part of me wants to see what the skinnies can do on their own, but part of me also wants to play... I know the wides barely kept up with the VRX on their own and I was constantly pushing them to their limits for the past few years.

It also looks (by satellite) As if I’ll be playing in a parking lot with all asphalt...

Ummm on a side note what’s the limiter reduction setting?

And get someone else to bring out whatever you can’t, opportunities in the Covid world are very limited, go to town on it...

I have the voltage limiting set per instructions on my amps but can’t remember them off the top of my head.

For our church services, we’ve had a full band set up outside with mains about 60’ apart to allow mics to be 8’ apart. The subs were left and right, not centered, and they sounded amazing. I just expect to be about twice as loud for the concert (even though I’ve not been conservative on the volume for the church).

There is someone I know who lives about a mile from the church through the woods who has taken to listening to the service from the comfort of their rear porch each week (then gives me a commentary on how the mix was from his house).

In the photos, we had a cajon on drum both weeks these were taken but have also had the full kit out on other weeks. Also had some fun in the rain 2 weeks ago (do those bags make my speakers look trashy?).

You can say that again. Every event this year has cancelled a few weeks before they were scheduled to happen. This one just booked and they’re sending a deposit so I’m hopeful...

ok, well best check, because it is problematic to limit a 2000W amp down to 50V without engaging the limiter constantly.

Impact.
Unfortunately my budget did not allow for the performer…

I bought the iTech’s back from a friend at the end of last year. I set them up on my table and tested them but only did one concert afterwards. No clip or limiter issues noted at that time.

I also have 2 x XTI-2000’s and 3 x XLS-2500’s that I used to use.
Currently the XTI’s are set up for monitors and 1 of the XLS is doing a fill speaker. The other 2 XLS are in a rack with a Ui-24 and a pair of wireless as a small event system.

From what I've seen, the Impact is still a great desk.

Chris - agreed. I’d love encoders for each channel and occasional DMX control but apart from that, great sound and easy to use with all the other features I need.
