Baltic birch going under the saw today. Updates will be slow, and pics sporadic, but I will report back.

We got the majority of the 1/4" BB cuts done. Here's a few pics.

1/4" Baltic Birch. Working outside in the cold because the workshop is... occupied. With mess.

First cuts done.

Some off-cuts used for smaller pieces. Band sawed with a rough blade, so will be planed before use.

Image

Setting trammel bar for router. 20" circles to be used as braces.

Image

Tidy circles.

Image

Checking I didn't goof. Cut twice, measure once.

Image

It's on the money.

Image

Those 20" circles are big!

Be in touch when I get more time to work on this.

Hope this review will help in confirming the decision you made about coming to the Jack side.

Hi CEF, I have read it, and it helped convince me - along with Bill and others' advice. I have already built a DR250 and gigged it a good few times on bass, but I want something smaller. I know how amazing these horn designs are and loved how I sounded on the DR250 I built a while back.

I am going to build this woofer only. I never ever use tweeters, and have very little highs in my sound. I never slap, and the only FX I use is a DI box... I am kinda old-school when it comes to that. If for some incredible reason, I want tweeters, I can add them. I cannot foresee this. I won't use this as a top/monitor ever - I have both already. This will literally be my bass cab and nout else. What I might end up doing is building a 2nd :D

Will be a few days/weeks before I get back to it. Such is my schedule.

Best,
Mike

Welcome to the club dude. By far my most favourite cab I've owned. I use so many talent boxes that rely on a variation of top end for the cut in certain sounds compared to what is needed in my clean sound. While refitting the cab recently. I had to borrow a radiator style cab that had no tweeter and had forgotten how my much I have become reliant on a full range of sound that Bill's cabs bring to the party. I have yet to find a sound guy who hasn't really liked it yet. I even got asked to turn off the octave pedal I wasn't using just because of the sequence of octaves I was playing for sound check.
Peace out.

I use two Jack 12's with 3012HO drivers and I can tell you it handles my 5 string no problem.
It doesn't sound too mid-strong. Maybe it has the mids that seem to be missing from my GK cabs!
I use the Eminence BGH25-8 horn in the top cab and 6 piezos in the bottom cab. I use my EQ to reduce the high frequencies if it gets too much.
