Sold my SWR goliath 4x10 - had to rent a Mesa 2x12 while building Jack

My Jack12 is half built and I sold my SWR goliath 4x10 too soon - I needed a cab for a gig. So i rented a new Mesa 2x12 and man was I unhappy! Actually a beautiful tone - a little smoother and with a more refined high end. But I was missing something that I rely on! I couldn't get a low oomph out of it. I don't know if some people call it boom. I dislike low mud, but I like being able to inflect using my fingers. It's a similar shaped sound to the kick drum that I like (if I am describing it correctly).
When i dug in with the Mesa - it stayed smooth. I started cramping up.

I will have to finish my build of the Jack12 - but what can I expect? Has anyone moved from 4x10 to Jack? What did you find? What was it like?
