NOTE: The SPL function is no longer working in the forum...
DJP, perhaps send a PM to Chris then? So he can fix it...
Built:
DR 250: x 2 (melded array) with March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" BP102 , 2 x 28" 3012lf.
WH8: x 3 with melded array.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...

All ready done, along with a post in the thread on it.

Looking at only the bottom, red trace (this is measured, not simulated or estimated) at 2.83VAC (0.8 watt@10 Ohm), do you see the T48 "lacking" in low bass? Ask Martinsson for an actual, measured 1W/1M, 1/3 octave smoothed SPL chart. Then, it is an apples to apples comparison.
Frankly, yes. It's 6db down at 50hz, and 10db down at 30hz. That is pretty much the definition of lacking in low bass. That drop in response must be EQ'd out, meaning that you lose 10db in sensitivity to get flat response to 30hz. With live music, it's not a big deal, because most of the content is above 60hz. Having even the reduced amount of Lower frequency output that the t48 does actually have sounds good with the harmonics that exist down there. For a dj, with recorded music, trying to use a single horn results in having much of the advantage lost. In multiples, some of that is gained back, and changes the -6 and -10 points, making it a useable device.

In all fairness, Bill has always said that horns work best in multiples... and they do. If you want one or two subs for recorded music... this just isn't the right cabinet
99% of the time, things that aren't already being done aren't being done because they don't work. The other 1% is split evenly between fools and geniuses.
