Laser Pointer Dispersion Tester

#1 Post by strinh »

I've read a lot about speaker placement, dispersion angles and boundary rules in books, forum posts, etc. Most have little graphics with the dispersion represented graphically to place and align speakers for room coverage. However, when you get on the ladder to actually do it, you're "eyeballing" (and earballing) it at best. Anyone used laser pointers to make measurements more predictable? Not as a replacement for listening, but to supplement listening.

Here's what I was thinking: An adjustable protractor or angle gauge with two laser pointers on the ends. Anyone thought of or tried this? Might be helpful for placing acoustic treatment, also?

Thanks!

Scott
