What I've found is that it really depends on who you're getting it from. If you're lucky enough to find a decent distributor for the area, the prices are pretty good. If you get it from the first place you find, they're usually 1 or 2 steps further down the supply chain, so their markup is higher.gdougherty wrote:So pricing has come back down to semi reasonable levels?LelandCrooks wrote:That's what I pay here in small town America for 1/2 5x5 true BB.gdougherty wrote:$37/sheet sounds almost like the thin veneer birch plywood.

Don't know if this dude is still building all his cabs, but just had a small piece of input.
I've been known to drive to South Carolina for lumber that's far cheaper than what I can get around here (Walnut, specifically).
If you're doing as many cabs as you say, you could always hit up ATL and stop at Suwanee for $20 1/2" BB panels. Although your drive is significantly longer than where I go for my walnut...
They look like this:
(yeah, I had some alignment issues with my table saw, all fixed now)

If you live in smaller midwestern areas, discount retail places like Menards, etc, often sell at "psuedo whoiesale" prices similar as to what large distributors like Alpine Plywood charge. If you do not have access to those discount retailers, you may be stuck with paying full retail.

and topdiggy2, you would be a fool to use anything but BB for the build...these boxes take a bit of time to build and they are NOT toys...they will shred a lesser grade ply.
Careful posting that pic though. Now you will have tons of members asking you to build their cabs too!
