I think the DR280/T48 combo is the way to go if you anticipate 1000+ audiences. A benefit of the DR280 over the 250 or 200 is that you could use a pair without subs for small gigs and still have adequate low end. As mentioned, the cost and size aren't much more than the 250.

Nope, though I don't work for free either. I play at what I love for free. I get paid for the work I do, which also puts money into letting me play for free.

+1 For me, that's one of the reasons I'd like DR280's. That in addition to the lower crossover point.
