What EV's are you using for tops now?
EV’s ?
Peavey 1508 BWX , BMD750 P.Audio HF driver, homemade 1.9 cu ft vented cab. Xover at 85hz for woofer and 1.2hz for horn.
Equalized by DBX venue selection.
Price of wood went into the stratus sphere— 5.50usd for 2x4 stud 92 5/8 . Trees must be on strike.
OK, so did you get some plans for the boxes?
Or just wing it?
Take us through that process.
I'm trying to work out if there would be a response chart...
Used an online fill in the blank for speaker specs and built a trapezoid box similar to the peavey SP-5 with a vent tube per spec, but didn’t like the result.
So I used one of my peavey SP-5 cabs and portioned it off inside from the horn and braced it and made the corner of cab ports with extensions inside for tuning and added 3/4 plywood to the outsides , put polyfil inside and liked how it sounded so built another from the SP-5 group of 4 I had.
Yeah winged it with guidance lol.
The DBX has made setting up the xovers and eq really easy. I had been using Rane 23s 4 way xovers and Rane eq, very limited.
Also have Xkits xovers with replaceable chips for xovers, so I’ve tried a lot over a couple of years, and many different speakers .
Also been running those speakers with 1200 watts per channel while testing or experimenting. Now I’m using the 400 watt per channel Peavey ipr2 3000.
So I have a Peavey ipr2 7500 doing nothing , what a waste.
Hey I’m learning and having fun and keeping the economy going.
Are there measuring tools I can get to make an SPL chart?
