Greetings!

#1 Post by mamorrison »

So, I have built a few of these cabs. I have built a Jack 10 (currently being used by my son for keys). An XF212 that I will never get rid of. And I have built the simplex 12 that was used for some home audio speakers. They sound much better in the BFM cabs. Anyway, I play bass. I want to be a portable cab(s). I want one or two cabs for this project. I really am not sure which route to take. Any information is welcome.

Have you tried your bass through the Jack10 you already built?

I have. Sounds great. But, it is now used by my son. I have purchased the plans for the following: Jack 10, Simplex 12 Tiltback, and Jack Lite 12. I am willing to purchase other plans if necessary. I am not worried about build difficulty. I am pretty competent in that regard. So, if the Jack Lite is that best option I am certain I can build that. But, if something else is better for bass I will happily purchase the plans.

Just to clarify. I have zero need for PA. I am looking for bass guitar use only.

If you want to keep it as portable as possible, a couple of Jack 110. If you want more oomph, a couple of Jack 112's, slightly bigger but still portable. The Omni's sound fantastic but aren't as versatile and are much bigger as a single box but it all depends on what you want to use it for. Size of audience, PA or no PA, outdoor?

Personally, since you already have a Jack 110 in use by your son, I would just build more. Which driver did you put in your Jack and want kind of music is it intended for?

Thanks. I think I'll go with the JackLIte 12. It looks like a fun build. Also, the cab looks awesome. Will I need more than a sheet each of 1/4" and 1/8" BB to build two JackLite 12's?
