Hello from Minnesota

#1 Post by Mnsouthpaw »

Greetings from the land of 10,000 lakes....Minnesota. Yep the ice has finally left...May 1st...latest out for the last 26 years.

Recently purchused a set of plans for the tuba 60 and am planning to build the slim version with the Lab 12 driver. I'm helping a friend set up a music system in his large garage using the Tuba along witth a Eminence Beta 10 coaxial, CTS Piezo tweeter and crossing with a Mini DSP. Sort of new with the DIY stuff and am hoping I can get this combo to work well together. All ears if anyone see's a major flaw. Do have a question regarding delay. I've been told that the Mini DSP has up to a 7ms of delay. Does this sound like it will be enough? I know this is a greeting thread, just thought I'd throw it out should anyone have a simple answer. If not, I'll look for the proper thread to post the question on.

I'm looking forward to starting in with the build and hope to build more of Mr. Fitzmaurice's
Designs. Also looking forward to interacting with some fellow hobbiests.

Kindest,
Marko

G'day and welcome to the forum :)

You're gonna have some serious bass in that garage!

Regarding the delay, in pro sound situations, enough people worry about time alignment, some down to the nth degree.
For a garage I wouldn't get overly concerned about it. If you set your top boxes back from the mouth (ie behind the sub) equal to the length of the horn, you've pretty much covered it :)

Built:
DR 250: x 2 melded array, 2x CD horn, March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" KL3010LF , 2 x 28" 3012LF.
WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...
