Hello from Phoenix

#1 Post by Stratispho »

Been lurking around for a few weeks so I thought I'd register. I'm really impressed by some of the builds I've read through, amazing craftsmanship!

I originally found this page from a link on another forum (don't remember which one) about a DIY subwoofer (A bacon and egg theme and burning man come to mind) and the idea of having better sound than a "theater in a box" kit appealed to me. Wife bought me a nice big screen for Xmas but the sound SUCKS. I'm always having her turn it up because I can't hear a thing over the constant noise of the kids and the mutt.

Last time I worked with audio was in the late 90's re-doing all my cars, and friends cars. Haven't ever touched a home set-up and it seems like an entirely different world and a new language.

I think I have 20 different tabs open right now trying to figure this all out, so back to reading I go...

Hi Stratispho,

Welcome to the forum :)

Keep reading away, there's heaps to learn.
And when you're done with that, no doubt there'll be plenty of good people willing to lend a hand with any questions...
Built:
DR 250: x 2 melded array, 2x CD horn, March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" KL3010LF , 2 x 28" 3012LF.
WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...

Still trying to figure out ohms, crossovers, and exactly which speakers I'll need to build/ get for my room. Speakers seem to be figured out, mostly looking at which receiver to go with and then the rest should work itself out.
