Another Minnesotan but currently in Afghanistan

#1 Post by brinandi »

Just wanted to say hi to everyone. I have been lurking for some time dreaming up wonderful ideas that my wife thinks are crazy but have finally committed to something after much research and debate (scanning and comparing name brands and costs, yada yada yada)...

A little history of myself, been mixing records for close to 15 years. Was/is pretty big into the rave/and nowadays club scene. Been part of some of the largest promotion companies in the MN/WI area for many years (speaking of I miss my old group of friends www.dc-productions.net will give you some idea of the size of things I was involved in and would like to get back into)

Anywho, have kind of always just left sound to my friends and rentals but there is a strong possibility that I will be moving when we return home from deployment so I think it is time to just build my own rig to keep costs down and overall just make throwing some smaller events easier to do on the fly while building onto the rig for larger stuff.

Plan right now is to immediately build
4x T48's 30" w/ 3015lf ran off xti4002
2x OmniTop 12 melded (undecided amp for the tops)
2x OmniTop 12 line

Soon after I'll add another 4 T48's

I also bought plans for the DR280's but I am not too confident in taking those on... tho I would like to have 4 of those (possibly 6) to go along with 8 T48's. I have considered having them built for me but in order to keep costs down (and wife approved) I am planning to go with the OmniTop 12's and make due.

I have rambled quite enough already.. Just wanted to say HI!

Hey, welcome to the forum...

Looks like you are going to do a serious start with your new rig. No half work, 4x t48 & Otop. :D

Have fun with your builds when you get back from Afganistan. And for now good luck whilst being there, as i my guess is your not there as a tourist visiting the beautyfull poppy fields...
Life is just a game, don't take it to seriously!

Ya, I think it is a good start :hyper: :D :D
Time to kill out the last 2 months here with nothing stupid happening :fingers:
Double bonus of the build is it can occupy some time since I can't play with my new bike as motorcycles don't fair too well in MN during December!!

OT12's are a good start. The DR280's are a bit big for most occasions, and more beneficial for outdoors. Having said that, there is someone in GB that used/s the DR280 along with T60's.

G'day from me as well. :)

Sounds like half decent plan you have in mind to build.

Here's trusting you stay safe, and to Aussie mates as well...
Built:
DR 250: x 2 melded array, 2x CD horn, March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" KL3010LF , 2 x 28" 3012LF.
WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...

Welcome brinandi.

Quite a build goal you have there. Don't be afraid of DRs - consider it like a dog, oft-times the bark is much worse than the bite.

Oh, and if ya bump into them there in Tellytubby land, say hello to the ANZACS there ( the Ozzies and the Kiwi SAS troops )

Take REAL care

I used to see a lot of New Zealand and Australian soldiers where I was at about 6 months ago. Now, not so much... Mainly Polish, German, Korean.
