hello everyone

#1 Post by fadchak »

Hi from the tropical country Philippines. Hope to build the plans I have ordered soon. I have some problems tho and would like to ask anybody out there for help. First can I use plywood that we have here? its a 4 ply plywood but not baltic birch and secondly can I use the sovereign 12-300 speaker for the OJarray plan? it does meet the parameters in the plan. :?:

God bless

Hello fadchak,
Welcome to the forum! :)

Your ply is 4 ply? How weird! Ply is usually in odd multiples: so, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, ply etc
Your ply should have layers of even thickness. If it doesn't, then look for another source.

Enjoy your time here.

Built:
DR 250: x 2 melded array, 2x CD horn, March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" KL3010LF , 2 x 28" 3012LF.
WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...

Gregory, you're guessing...

The sovereign pro 12-500 has Xmax of 6, Qts is within spec and Fs of 43.
Recommended drivers would be better of course!

Oooops, my apologies Gregory.

TS specs wise the 12-500 is in the ballpark for T39 or T48, and the OT12.
IIRC correctly, Bill said it doesn't model as well as the recommended drivers though.

thanks so much for the replies:) I did find a local distributor of eminence speakers in our country here are the ones available ALPHA-12A
DELTA-12A accdg to budget :D I noticed that the (Xmax) of detla 12a does not meet the 4mm requirement of the Ojarray. Can I still use this speaker?

Regards to all,
fadchak

If the driver doesn't meet the specifications in the plans it shouldn't be used.

If you have an eminence dealer, you can get hold of the recommended drivers.
Not being awful, but they cost what they cost.
