I'm having trouble finding the generic mattress topper, believe it or not. Everyone has started carrying the "memory foam" version of all of them. So far I've checked Target, Kohls, and K-Mart...
Memory foam does seem to be taking over the market. It's OK, but more expensive, like twice the price of standard foam, so dumpster diving looks better and better.

Well, it's been raining basically this entire year here in Atlanta, so that's not a fun proposition :D

I hit the Depot and picked up a bunch of scrap 8lb underlayment for $5. It's got a reddish/pink backing, but I figure I can just hit it with a rattle can.

Hah, usually I'm OK with that, but you can see it from the ports ;)

Wal-Mart still sells a generic mattress topper (here in Ohio). Just bought one from them about a month ago.

Basically the whole thing is open at the back - the diagonal piece of wood which acts as the 15" baffle doesn't glue onto the back, there's a space of a couple of inches, so the whole thing is a horn. Worth buying the plans just to have a look if you're not sure!

On another note, I thought I'd add the mistakes I've made. Basically I've had the back open a couple of times now, primarily due to not glueing in the inductor coils properly to the chassis. I used a hot glue gun which didn't work, so they came loose and I've now super-glued them which holds them on well. Also I was really cautious about soldering the PXB lamp to the wires, so this created a loose connection which crackled. I've resoldered it now (and superglued it to the chassis) so it's tight. Really good practice with it tonight after the changes, and it seemed to handle being put in and out of my care then played really well.

It may well be re-branded underlay, but I spotted it while ordering the paint, and it seemed to be the right sort of stuff. I rather carelessly used the verb 'carpetted' when describing installing it

Satisfying tho the job was, I couldn't have been bothered to double layer it and it won't make enough difference to me to make it worth it. I also nearly used up the 2 meters I ordered; I would have to have ordered another 2 meters and waited another week. I suppose I could have got some eggshell mattress stuff, but well, the felt stuff seems to do the trick.

Koch were involved in the Eden and Sadowsky tube amps. The 2 do go together - 300W tube power seems to suit the O15TB perfectly. 8)
That felt is what EV uses in all their cabs - including the Dynacord line. I wish I could source it in the US for a price like that. If anybody knows of any PM me. Nice build!

I've now read, on here and another forum, of crossover components shaking loose. On reading the bottle of my PL adhesive, it says: "Bonds all types of hard and soft wood, hardboard, chipboard, formica, metal, stone, concrete, polystyrene foam, glas wool and various plastics.... blah"...Won't do polypropylene, polyethylene Teflon or nylon.
It would seem to be a lot better than hot glue, which, thinking back, has let me down before.

So why aren't you using cable ties to keep the crossover parts from shaking loose?

A dab of hot melt under the cable tied parts and nothing rattles or comes loose

Hi all,
It was the Omni 15 Tall Boy that originally hooked me on to Bill's site; I think they are awesome.
Congrats on your build so far- I'm very envious.

I won't mention yesterdays ODI Cricket result...ok :fruit:

Oh, if you want a glue that sticks to plastic AND wood, use the grey sticky stuff that the air-conditioning guys use on ducting. It sticks like baby pooh to a blanket...

I wish I could hear you say this kind of stuff.

Hell, you'd probably find my California-Georgia blended accent pretty hilarious. There's quite a few of us former "surfer dudes" that say "ya'll" now, after we got shipped off from Burbank in the early 90s.
